Where is Serpentine Falls:
Located just 50 minutes south of Perth’s CBD in the charming town of Serpentine, near Jarrahdale, Serpentine Falls is surrounded by lush nature and abundant wildlife. This tranquil spot is a must-visit for anyone looking to escape the city and immerse themselves in the beauty of the Australian outdoors.
About Serpentine Falls:
The park gates open daily from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, and arriving early is highly recommended. I got there just before the gates opened, and it was well worth it! Not only did I beat the crowds, but I also spotted kangaroos in the morning light. Entry fees are $17 per car or $10 for motorbikes or concession holders. This fee grants you access to the entire park, so take your time exploring all it has to offer.
While some choose to swim in the falls during summer, it’s worth noting that swimming isn’t advised due to water quality concerns. However, you can still soak up the scenery from the rocks or the designated viewing platform. Serpentine Falls has excellent facilities, including clean toilets, picnic tables, and several trails, making it a fantastic destination for a family outing.
Hiking at Serpentine National Park:
The main attraction, Serpentine Falls, is just a short 5–10 minute stroll from the car park along a well-maintained 600m trail. It’s easy and accessible, offering stunning views of the falls. For those seeking more of a challenge, additional trails like the 5.8km Baldwins Bluff Loop are available. While more demanding, they reward hikers with incredible views and a true sense of adventure.
WHat you need to bring:
Don’t forget your essentials: a water bottle, sunscreen, and of course, your Car Seat Genies! After a day of hiking and exploring, you’ll be grateful to have your seats protected from dirt and dust on the drive home.
