Lesmurdie National Park: Everything you need to know about your next Perth Hike!

Planning a hike at Lesmurdie Falls/National Park? Here's everything you need to know about my recent adventure in this stunning Western Australian gem:

Where is LEsmurdie Falls:

Lesmurdie Falls can be found at Lesmurdie National park, only 40 minutes South-East of Perth CBD. It has two entrances meaning you can choose to start at the bottom or the top.

Lesmurdie Hiking Trial:

This hike is a full loop, and you can choose to start at the bottom or the top, both being a 2.5km loop. Start from the top for a midway reward of breathtaking falls, keeping you motivated along the way. Or, begin at the bottom for immediate access to the falls and an easier, scenic hike downward after reaching the top. Or you can choose to park at the bottom and take the short 600m option for fall access. The longer trail is very hilly! If you're after a leisurely stroll, this might not be the best fit. Expect a workout with steep climbs and rugged terrain. It took me just under an hour to hike down and back up from the top car park. There are no designated paths, so prepare to get muddy and sweaty—it's all part of the adventure! It's easy to lose your way in the park's winding trails, especially in dense areas. Be sure to keep an eye out for markers and maybe even bring a map or use GPS to stay on course.

When to go to Lesmurdie Falls:

Early mornings or late afternoons are ideal for avoiding the midday heat, and the lighting during these times is perfect for capturing stunning photos. The sunsets from the top of the falls are absolutely breathtaking, but be sure to plan your hike carefully—getting caught on the trail after dark without the right gear can be risky!

What to Bring:

Don’t forget sturdy shoes, plenty of water, and a hat. And if you’re hiking after rain, pack a change of clothes—you'll likely need it. Most importantly pack your Car Seat Genies, they are a must for all adventures!
